Our new white paper, Mapping Scientific Computing to Power Research, Big Data, and AI in Africa, examines the state of scientific computing across the continent and outlines what it will take to build the infrastructure that powers world-class research, big data and AI. Drawing on insights from 67 research institutions across 28 African countries, the paper reveals that Africa's overall scientific computing readiness stands at 40.1%, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated investment in compute infrastructure, software, connectivity, governance and technical skills.

More importantly, the white paper moves beyond identifying challenges to present a strategic vision for the future. It makes the case for a federated scientific computing ecosystem that enables institutions to share infrastructure, strengthen regional collaboration and develop the skilled workforce needed to support Africa's growing AI ambitions. With more than 83% of surveyed institutions expressing interest in participating in a federated HPC network, the findings point to a continent ready to collaborate and scale.
